Dark Forces is a combat adventure game like
Doom. Each level (or mission as
they are called) has several objectives you must complete before you can move
onto the next. It is set in the Star Wars universe, between Star Wars and the
Empire Strikes Back.
Behind a veil of secrecy the evil Empire is creating a doomsday army--one that,
if finished, will become the final cog in the Empire's arsenal of terror and
domination. You play the role of Kyle Katarn,  a missionary for
hire. First used by the
rebellion to steal top secret plans to the Death Star. Your goal is join the Rebel
Alliance's covert operations division, infiltrate the Empire,
then battle every man and machine the Imperial Forces can muster. Search a vast
galaxy for clues, attack enemy bases - all in a desperate attempt to stop the
activation of this fearsome new weapon. Kyle delivered the plans of Death Star to the rebel
alliance, soon afterwards the Death
Star was destroyed. But even as the Alliance celebrates this victory, another
sinister plot is set in motion, that will become an even greater concern to the
rebellion". You can use fearsome new weapons! All Dark Forces weapons fire by pressing the CTRL
Key. Some weapons
have a secondary fire, used by hitting the Z key. The game is set
in the familiar Star Wars universe, and contains almost all of the
Imperial stuff such as stormtroopers, officers, and droids. There are 14
huge levels to complete in the original version. Several animated
cutscenes appear between the missions to develop the story. There is no
multiplayer mode.
